Volunteer MOPS Childcare

Pastor Karen contacted us in about 2 years ago and asked if we could help a Teen MOPS group out. They need two women on the 2nd & 4th Thurs. night during small group. This request is for young Moms with toddler under the age of 2. Perhaps you know how difficult it is to get the time for the Word at this life stage. You may bring a teenage daughter along who would also volunteer with you.

We currently have it set up so that you can give specifically for this Teen MOPS child care ministry. Email Moni with questions.

Here is a list of their meetings this year. The dates in bold signify no child care yet coordinated. Sept 9 (Moni & Dawn) & *23 (Moni & Ian), Oct 14 (cancelled child care), Nov *11, *18, Dec 9 (Deb E & family), 16, Jan *13, 27, Feb *10, 24, Mar *17, *31, Apr 14, and May 12, 26. If you can help, please let Moni, Miros, or Judy know.

All dates will be at LIFE NETWORK (Colorado Springs Pregnancy Center) from 6:30-8:30pm. LIFE NETWORK is located at 3700 Galley Rd., 80909. It's next the the Applebee's just West of Academy off of Galley.

It would great if the childcare workers could get there at 6:20. They can enter the North doors and come upstairs, ring the doorbell and we will let them in. They will be watching the kids in the main lobby downstairs.

We will do our best to come get the kids from them at 8:30, even if we are not done with our meeting. I will provide some toys, books, videos, water and snacks.

Here's a little history about the need and purpose of Teen MOPS. see [here].

What's it like serving at Teen MOPS? Read more below ...

We did enjoy serving at Teen MOPS. I think it was as much a blessing to Hannah and I as it was for the Moms. We spent the whole time playing make believe, having our fingers eaten by a crocodile, bouncing stuffed animals on top of a tightly pulled sheet that we flung up and down, and made tents. They Ate and ate and ate and ATE! Hannah was quite surprised at how hungry the children were, but also at how loving and tender they were. About 8:30, Hannah got pretty tired and she flopped down on the floor. The kids all ran over to stroke her hair and lean in cheek to cheek to ask if she was ok. It was really beautiful! - Sherri

Ministry Outreach - Send a Card

Over the weekend I had a chance to pick a lady up on the side of the road and give her a ride home. She was carrying groceries and had a ways to walk. You could tell she had had a rough life and was tattooed and pierced to the hilt. She shared with me she had been at the hospital with her mom who is dying on terminal brain cancer and decided she needed a few groceries on the way home. She just kept saying ”people do not do this”(referring to me picking her up and giving her a ride) I assured her God does and shared a little with her. I dropped her off at her trailer and let her know I would be praying for her and her family. I than had a thought while driving away that it would be cool for her to receive cards in the mail to encourage her during this time. If you feel lead to send one to her, her name and address are below. I probably will never see her again but thought it would speak volumes to her how much God truly cares about her. (from Kathy P)

Challenge: Bless 3 Sisters for Valentine's Day

Who: You ... Spread the Lord's Love
What: Outreach Opportunity
When: Anytime this Week

Let's do an "outreach" of encouraging at least 3 women, who need a touch from God ... in whatever methods best fits one's schedule and opportunity. Today at devos (Read the Word) we were discussing Mt. 24:30 - The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' See [here] and listen to Monday's recording (2/8 - Matt 25:30). You'll hear that I frequently run into young women who have no one speaking truth and love into their lives. This is a perfect opportunity to share a word of encouragement with others.
So, take the challenge. Bless 3 women who would never expect your touch.

Here are some ideas:

  • A handmade card is an inexpensive option.
  • Stop by with an inexpensive gift and just give a smile.
  • Write on her face book how beautiful and loved she is by God. Pray for a verse from the Lord to post. Look in Psalm 139 and see if there is encouragement there for your friend.
  • Invite her to have coffee with you at Village Inn, maybe split a piece of pie. Let her do most of the talking. Ask things like: So, how are you doing? What is God doing in your life right now? How can I pray for you.
  • Send an email letting her know that she came to mind today and that you lifted her up before the Lord… be specific in how you prayed for her.
  • Another great verse - Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Heavenly Multiplication & Rewards

No Non-cent's Opportunity
Feed the Overseas Orphan
at No Cost to You

If you want more mission bang for your buck and ever shop at ALBERTSON’S, you can feed overseas orphans without it costing you a dime. The ministry Food for Orphans has established a partnership with the Albertson’s grocery chain. Albertson's has provided Food for Orphans with special keychain fobs that when scanned at the register, will automatically trigger a 1% donation from Albertson’s to Food for Orphans. When you shop at Albertson’s, just scan the key fob and a donation will come from Albertson’s to Food for Orphans to feed orphans around the world.

Although my goal is to get 1,000 women involved, every member of your family can get a keychain fob! Even if each us just donate pennies on each trip to Albertson's, for every 500 people who spend $50 a week, Albertson’s will donate $250 a month … which will provide 500 nutritious meals for orphans. Every 50¢ donated will feed one orphan a good, well-balanced, protein-enriched meal.
As I've talked to women about this, they have asked me to remind them often about the impact of their efforts. So, email me and let me know how many free keychain fobs you would like. I'll mail these keychain fobs to you. Then, once a quarter, I'll email you with a Food for Orphan Update so that you can see how your wise stewardship is multiplying around the world.

FYI, the Founder and President of Food for Orphans, Gary VanDyke, is also available to come and speak to your group. He can present the history of Food for Orphans, facts about orphans worldwide, and what Food for Orphans is planning for the future. (See attachment.) He seasons his talk with true-life stories about the orphans and is willing to answer any question presented. To confirm his availability, please contact him directly at gary@foodfororphans.org.

It’s easy, it’s free, and it’s a blessing. Please become involved with me. There are no gimmicks and no costs involved except for what I incur. All email exchanges are kept confidential. I'd love to get this information across our country to feed the hungry children in our world. Please ask the Lord to help us.

P.S. - Please use your influence and forward this link to your many friends and family. Let's impact the world!

I know God will not give me anything I can't handle.
I just wish that he didn't trust me so much. - Mother Teresa

P.S.S. - Here are some recent stats:
Every 90 seconds an orphan dies from malnutrition and hunger
400,000 orphans die every year of hunger and starvation
60,000,000 orphans go to be hungry every night
145 million orphans worldwide
1 in every 13 children are orphaned
44,000 new orphans every day
Every two seconds, another child becomes an orphan

P.S.S. - Every penny can make a difference as we fight the hunger of children.

Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. - James 1:27
And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’ – Matt 25:40 NLT
And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward. – Matt 10:42 NIV
